Database publishing has long been the method of choice when it comes to efficiently producing publications such as price lists, data sheets and catalogs. Most solutions, however, are based either on DTP programs such as Adobe InDesign, requiring investment in expensive software and processes, or on HTML and CSS, limiting flexibility and design options.

With myCATALOG we developed a solution that automates the creation of PDFs for print and web and eliminates these complexities. We have over 60 years of expertise in publishing and work hand in hand with our Swiss clients in industry, tourism, finance and retail. Time and again, we found that clients were looking for faster processes and wanted to depend less on layout departments and external agencies. This led us to develop the new solution.

Independence for product managers

In myCATALOG, the layouts are created directly as native PDFs – without the need for DTP software. This offers a host of advantages. Once the templates have been programmed, even complex product catalogs can be generated in minutes, without having to resort to experts or additional layout programs. The whole process is much more streamlined and every step – from initial creation to final approval – is entirely in the hands of the marketing team or the product manager.

AMAG Import uses this process to automate aftersales campaigns for its dealers. Dealers can use the solutions to customize and directly create mailings, POS materials, newsletters and other promotional materials. The process of creating all promotional materials is automated, error-free and requires no further intervention.

Efficiency, speed and lower costs

Native PDF technology allows simple layouts, but also thousands of pages of product data to be created in minutes in an automated, error-free process. This is much faster than traditional methods and there are no additional costs for layout programs. In media production too, the solution saves a great deal of work, both on the initial publication and on any subsequent update or correction.

Interhome uses the system to manage approx. 1.9 million assets and approx. 35,000 vacation homes. The tourism company uses this data to create around 10 catalogs a year in 7 languages, plus digital flipping books. A single product manager can now achieve what once required an entire team.

Unlimited design and full flexibility

The templates offer the same design possibilities as conventional DTP methods. Even challenging publications can be automated and flexible layout elements mapped on a rules basis.

Twerenbold Reisen uses myCATALOG to create catalogs for four brands and a wide range of travel deals. While the creative standards have remained the same, the degree of automation has increased dramatically. Today, the marketing managers produce the catalogs themselves and only need external assistance in rare cases.
